Miniatures
“Little Bits of Color”......the lost art known as Miniature Painting.
Miniature painting has been in existence for centuries, tracing its heritage back to the illustrated manuscripts of scribes in the Far East and Europe prior to the 15th century. Resurgence in miniature art surfaced in 1896 in England and expanded worldwide in the late 1900's. Photography gave it a hard blow, but interest in miniatures has been revived.
What Qualifies as a Miniature Painting?
Miniature painting involves tedious and delicate brushwork, which captivates under close scrutiny. In an effort to encourage and further define the direction of the art form, most contemporary societies have adopted a one-sixth-scale guideline. Miniature art
fits easily into your pocket, or the palm of your hand. If you have limited wall space or just want a dash of aesthetics in a small spot, add a “Little Bit of Color”.
